I always leave DSC on. Just now I was driving on my road which is packed, slick ice with a continually building layer of fresh snow on it. It's damn slippery, but it's ok with DSC on and basic knowledge of how to get out of a skid. I tried turning it off and the car was all over the place.

I have a 2003 330xi. Pushing the DSC button once supposedly raises the threshold of DSC intervention. Holding the button for about 10 seconds takes away the component of DSC that cuts engine power, but it keeps the individual wheel-braking part on.
