You know, I don't have a problem with this logic, except for the fact that there is a huge double standard mixed in here.

I'm 100% sure that you would not think the same thing if we were talking about the civilians and the troops on the other side.

For example, should a patriotic Afghan have supported the Taliban war effort in 2001 for the benefit of the troops? Or what about an patriotic Iraqi during the 2003 invasion of Iraq?

If we invade Iran, what should a patriotic Iranian do? Does your logic hold up across enemy lines? Answer: No. Thus, your logic is flawed and extremely bias.

Saying we should support a war for the sake of the troops is like saying we should support the slaughter house for the sake of the chickens.



Like I said earlier in this thread, discussing anything related to war is useless if you are unable to apply the same rules and logic to other countries that you do to your own country. Next time you are trying to decide what would be best in Iraq, imagine if another country had invaded the United States and we were the ones in middle of civil war. Then apply the same logic and see if your logic fits.
