Good rules of thumb:

1. If you have a computer problem - try rebooting.

2. If you have a cable modem, set-top box or similar tech gadget problems - unpug the power, wait 60 seconds and plug it back in.

3. If you have a wife, girlfriend, significant other, or kid problem - have a drink (or two) and think about it the following day.
