White05X3 is on a distinguished road
It truly depends on your anticipated use. For me, personally, the 328xi would make more sense than an X3. I live in a place with no snow (or so they say...it did snow here the other day...sort of...), mainly use mine for schlepping kids around and almost never go to Cosco. The 3-series is a great choice for my use. And I say that even though I think the X3 is a great car and am extremely impressed with it!

Now, if you are in a place with lots of snow a lot of the time, the X3 might still be a better choice. If you often transport large, bulky items the X3 is a better choice. If you prefer the higher seating position the X3 is a better choice.

Performance wise they are probably about the same. The e90 might get better gas mileage and I suspect the quality of the interior materials is better on the e90. My limited experience with the e90 is that the ride quality is better also.

However, the X3 offers a perception (and maybe even a reality) of more interior space and overall utility. The X3 has been in production longer so most of the bugs have been worked out of it already.

Does that make sense?
