Best military in the world? True- at the beginning of the war. Remember that we did not even enter the war in Europe for a couple of years after it started and we had to basically start from scratch.
Defeated because they were fighting too many fronts? False- they were defeated because their ability to make war (to support and defend those fronts) was taken away. Fuel refineries, electric generation dams, ammunition production, ball bearings for airplane and tank production, factories, railroads, were all destroyed by allied bombing to the point where they could not keep up. But that did not happen until we developed the
technology in the form of advanced long range fighter escorts to protect those bombers. Until that happened it was pretty much a stalemate. The US on the other hand had more than enough resources to supply not only our Army, Army Air Corps, and Navy but England and other allies too. (BTW, England recently paid off their debt to the US for WWII. Cudo's to them!
) Liberty ships (transport ships used to convoy supplies to England and our troops and alies in Europe) were being built faster than Germany could sink them.
Oh yeah, we were fighting Japan at the same time too. They were also running out of precious resources for making war. We kinda' helped out with that also. Basic strategy: Cut off their resources and you stop their ability to make war.
