I would much rather not have to embark on something as daunting as removing the center console; I'd leave that to a Denison installer. However, wiring under the armrest seems pretty straight forward.
I do not have a CD Changer. I'm not interested in mounting the IPod externally; all I want to do is install the IPod in the arm rest, velcro'd to the inside.
I would appreciate any help or guidance.

This is all I could find for now (getting ready for bed...getting old

). Dension does not have any specific guides for the X3 yet, but this install article looks pretty straightforward. The 2 plugs you need will be a 6 pin plug and a 3 pin also. They usually are tucked in with the main wiring bundle, so you might have to dig a bit. That's how my X5 was anyway.
You might try searching x3world.com for more info regarding console removal (if it has to be done).
