there is quite a bit of confidence gained in buying a CPO vehicle. Not that a CPO vehicle will be better than a privately owned, two-owner non-CPO vehicle. But you are gaining a long time warranty out to 100kmi. We all know that luxury German vehicles of any make will and do have issues. Having piece of mind is worth $2-3k in my opinion, especially after what happened to me in another vehicle. Continuous hassle and returns to the dealer are not worth a slight discount.

Further, your dealer sure seems to be working with you by letting you take it home. Even if you did find another deal privately for $4k less, you now have the hassle of dumping/selling your used 3.0. How's the market for those? You ready to wait for two to three months in the meantime? I just picked up a CPO '06 4.8is and I bet you won't wait long

Trade her in and thank yourself that you did. I find myself leaving the door open, even if it's cold/rainy/windy just to hear it bark back at me when I start it. I'm pretty smitten with the 4.8is and I'm a hard customer to please.
