I agree the TDV8 engine is very good and probably one of the best diesels on the market at the moment but in my opinion its not as good a vehicle as others mentioned here or available in so many ways, accepting that is road presence and kerb appeal, I did come close to buying one recently, had the deposit down on a TDV8 HST but after a bit more research and a lot of test drives decided against it and have kept my order on the new X5 (I already had a deposit down for over a year, (just in case) delivery now April 17th).

With all that said and as I understand it, your priority is space, with that being the case IMO you shouldnt go for the RRS it is not that large internally especially in the rear. But dont take my word for it go and have look yourself.
