I did use a 120V plug-in car warmer (for the interior) at -52C. But then I also had a 120V battery blanket, two immersion block heaters, and a stick-on oil pan blanket.

On my E53 and E46, my heated seats are feeling warm after one block, long before the engine produces heat. My heated steering wheel is warm by the end of the driveway.
I can not compete with you, you are a much heartier man than I. I like being warm when I want to be warm. I'll have to do my search in a stealthier way so I'm not attracting so much negative attention, but I stand by my explanation above that the extra fuel usage, additional engine wear etc. is absolutely meaningless over the life of the car.
