Actually, I was reading something that in the "true" enthusiast community, if people cannot spell Nurburgring with the two dots over the first 'u' (obviously I don't know how since they're not there) then they will simply refer to it as "The Ring". Think I read that on Wikipedia or my sister told me about that when she was in Germany last year talking to some locals.
