In IL, where I am, it is
illegal to hog the left lane for more than a half mile...You can be fined up to 79 bucks, but I've never seen a copper go after a left lane hogger. I try not to use the far left lane for more than a mile or two. In non-peak times, I will occasionaly see a Jetta or Civic fly by at like 80mph, thinking the left lane lets them go faster than the limit...
