TIRE DILEMA!!! HELP!!! Is it true that you have to have 4 tires of the same brand?
Ok I have a 2002 3.0 sport package with the 18 wheels.
When I got it last spring it came with BRAND SPANKING NEW PIrelli Scorpion Ice & Snow.
I got a side wall blow out some how.....Tire is unrepairable.. No biggy I thought.
Went to my local tire vendor, no luck, sorry cant get Pirelli tires.. Went to the next tire vendor ,"Sorry cant get Pirelli tires", went to Walmart, "Sorry cant get Pirelli", Went to Infinity Dealer ship where I bought the car figuring they replaced the tires. They said that they hadnt a clue. Call BMW Dealer and they said my truck couldnt of had those from the factory and sorry they couldnt help.. Went to NTB (National Tire BAttery) figuring this was a chain and they could order anything, he said well i dont think I can get that exact tire your best bet will be to buy it on line to make sure you get the exact tire.
And they all said the same thing, " We can not sell you just one tire of any other brand because BMW specifies that all 4 wheels are the same manufacturer or else the AWD system will go crazy trying to match the traction..
So Im left with this, Go to Ebay and hope someone is selling Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow... Or else buy 4 brand new tires of what ever brand so that my X5 will have all the same tires..
So do i have to spend hundreds of dollars just because of a blown out tire???? This cant be? I priced out some goodyears or michellins and that would be about 800-900 for 4 tires just because I have a flat one?? Thats insane!!
Does anyone have an 18' pirelli ice and snow they would like to sell?
