Hi Jichen, great help on the write up..
ok, I have opened up my door cards and have found one speaker behind the grill and one tweeter, so in total i have 4 speakers in the front, in the rear i only have one speaker on either side behind the grill and no tweeter, so in total i have 6 speakers.
The wiring for the speakers from the old plug are as follows...

yellow+red twisted with yellow+brown = Front left bass
yellow+white twisted with yellow+brown = Front left mid range??
Thats all the yellow wiring i have.

blue+red twisted with blue+brown = Front right bass
blue+white twisted with blue+brown = Front right mid range??
Thats all the blue wiring i have.

I cant understand this! i should have some more wires for the tweeters surely??

pic of the wiring..

the new loom which I have installed has the following speaker wires,

Blue+red twisted with blue+brown
Blue+purple twisted with blue+brown
Blue+white twisted with blue+brown
black+white twsted with black+brown
Yellow+red twisted with yellow+brown
Yellow+green twisted with yellow+brown
Yellow+white twisted with yellow+brown
Black+white twisted with Black+white

any ideas what are the black wires for??

I dont have a dsp amp, just a standard bmw amp, the sound from the cd changer works fine, i just dont get any sound from the sat nav, i have double checked all connections and they seem to be fine. I am certain the issue lies with the speaker wiring.

How would i compensate for the extra speaker wires? i have tried connecting the extra wires with the currrent wires but still no joy..

Thanks again..
