Ah ha Gotcha

As we approach April fools day there will be those who have plans for playing some pranks. Apparently there are some folks who love to play the game year round. Here are a few quotes from the wired news article http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,62794,00.html that i thought were funny.

The most obviously silly hoaxes still manage to snare susceptible Web surfers. For example: The infinite power supply http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/looflirpa/zero.shtml does not exist. But for the past two years, that fact hasn't stopped people from trying to buy one.

Even Snowball the Monster Cat http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/snowball.html a doctored photo of an 87-pound housecat – was a prank. After finding out it's a prank, most people feel ridiculous for falling for it. But, given that most individuals don't know much about cat biology, they're often able to suspend disbelief about how big a housecat can really get.

In the stupid legislation category, columnist John Dvorak penned a well-known piece in 1994 warning that Congress was considering a law that would make drunk driving on the information superhighway illegal, because "being drunk on a highway is bad no matter what kind of highway it is."
