Kenwood offers a similar system.

Maps are stored on teh HardDrive, Updates will be madeŽusing a SD-card.

BUT, as the back of the device shows (picture of back in eBay auktion) it uses the MOST bus, so will not fit in a current X3, X5, E46, E38, E39, ....
