If people would become more familiar with these other candidates, and actually vote for them, they may actually have a chance of winning and the result would be better candidates and more competition from all parties. We are actually one of the only democracies in the world that only has 2 parties which hold national office. Most have at least 3 or 4, and many have 6 or more "major" parties.
