instead of having those kinds of posts act like a regular response, is there a way to make the option of posting it on the side? as in next to the post the off-topic post is referring to?

I guess the first suggestion would make each thread scroll in four directions, but for the people that do not want to read the off-topic post, they can avoid having to be able to see it...so it's more of a secondary kind of post

I guess this would mean changing the format of vBulletin...
