I spotted a black E70 yesterday in Cardiff by the Sea, CA this past Sunday. It didn't have plates, just an "Irvine BMW" plate frame.
The trip is great! A little chilly, but that's ok. I have an '08 Ford Escape rental that is great. It is warmer back home, though
