when thieves pop the lock they use the screwdriver to turn the broken lock to drop open all of the windows. If you use your key you can do the same thing. once the windows are down they can reach in and unlock the car.
When you get the lock fixed, have the dealer recode your alarm so that only the remote will turn off the alarm. When they popped the lock and used the screwdriver, the car thought that a key was used and the alarm probably didn't go off.
I had the same thing happen to me when the headlights were stolen out of my '04.
