Thanks for the advise.

I use to have a 89 535i and twice I had a problem with the acceleration. When you would step on it the car would lunge forward then hesitate. After much testing we resolved that problem by disconnecting the battery and computer and letting the car sit for an hour. Almost like a reboot.

So with the car off your suggestion is to just disconnect the battery and let it sit for a bit?
