Get a hold of the undergrad review books with the SAT requirements to get into RPI, you'll see that they are very exclusive. When I got out of HS I had a pretty damn good "resume" but I got wait listed at RPI but got into Syracuse, Cornell, Brown and Binghamton... That should tell you something about RPI.

Wow...! Yeah, and that's one of my "issues." The people whom I asked and said they had heard of RPI were mostly from the Northeast. When I ask "locals" (I am in Charlotte, NC), I get shrugs. Due to my wife's career, my moving to any other location is VERY unlikely; this is why having a degree from an university that is "known" is important to me.
