Everyone seems to have forgotten That Nifong was in a close election race vs a black female attorney. An early news report stated he needed to get re-elected to vest his pension. I thought then, and still do now, that he pursued this case only to affect his reelection. I hope he'd disbarred, that he loses his pension, that he serves jail time. Unfortunately, the city, state, and NC residents are going to be paying huge settlement fees due to Nifong's selfserving acts.
