I think I saw the message that Chase is trying to get to in these final episodes.
In the prior seasons they were on all the way up, he glamorized some parts of the their lives, showed them as poor saps at other times, tried to show that they have "normal lives" while being psychopathic murderers....
This season, both episodes have tried to show the characters as getting older, not being as pertinent or in control, and de-glamorizing their lives....
And I don't think that it will end in a blazing glorious gun battle, I think they're all goign to fade away in obscurity, like dead rodents... because that's the point he's trying to make imho.
