I have no understanding or prior knowledge of this situation, but isn't it possible that things are being blown out of porportion.
It is one thing to "finance" terrorists. Is it another thing to be extorted by them.

If a company feels the lives of it employees are in danger, and it can pay off some groups to keep people safe,,,, I think it's a catch 22. If they don't pay, their employees dies. If they do pay, they are labeled collaborators of terrorist. Which is the lessor of two evils?

I am not saying paying them is right. All I'm saying is, life is usually not black and white.. This seems like a shade of grey, with good intentions.
