I was going to buy one immediately when it came out. So I dropped Verizon, went to cingular and put my name down on the list for the first one.
I needed a phone in the interm and got a blackberry 8800.
Now, I'm not sure I'm going to want the Iphone. The BB8800 rocks. Except that it is hard to sync with my mac.

Also, my BB8800 has a Nav system. I don't think the Iphone has that. And it's a great feature when traveling.

Then again, I am looking forward to a phone that will sync seamlessly with my home mac computer. So I might make the switch.
