Alpac, considering African American's would probably argue that they are usually the one's getting the short end of the legal stick. Maybe this is just one of those cases of the world trying to correct itself.
Imagine if it were the other way around and your daughter had been caught drug dealing and he had been caught speeding and the penalties were the same.
btw, I'm also not quite sure why his race was important in your post. It almost sounds as if your saying, a black boy can't learn from probation but your daughter can.

Now I don't think that was your intent. I think (or I hope) you were just trying to paint the scene for us. But you might want to be a bit more careful how you phrase things, they could easily be misinterpreted.
