That's funny, can I quote you on that, no one has ever called me the PC police before. Quite the opposite.
I'm probably one of the least PC people you will ever meet. I have used racist terms, I have been accused of saying misogynistic things, etc. and I brush it all off. Why, because I know I'm not a racist or a misogynist. Quite the opposite. And I hate all the PC bullshit. I am a wordsmith. I am in entertainment. I understand what it is to illicit reactions from people, to push buttons, spark controversy.
But I liken Imus to what Mel Gibson did. It's all about context.
On the other hand, no one is suggesting we change the first amendment. Imus is free to say what he wants, both to the letter of the law and his contract. But what he said, in the context of what he was saying, was just WRONG.
I'm not saying he legally should not win a case and set new precedent for PC values. All I'm saying is, I hope he has enough good judgment to let it go. CBS is a corporation and wanted to distance themselves from him.. I would want to do the same thing. And yes, his contract is clear, but that doesn't make him right. This is definately a grey matter. He has the right to say it. But he also has the right to keep his head buried in the sand.
