Might be a great oil for your neck of the woods during the cold winter months (you know when temps are 32F or below).....The 0W-40 seems to cover a large area of viscosity.
Usually, the BMW has 5W-30 oil in their engine. So I am sure you can use the Mobil 1. However, since BMW is still paying for your maintainance, just use their oil and stick with their oil for the in-between "free oil change".
