I'm not sure what you mean now. So, I'll describe how I typically have my screen set.
In the main window (left side, larger), I have the navigation map show all of the time---regardless of whether or not I am actually using guidance. I have the zoom level at 800 feet. On the right side of the screen, I have the information about the car (MPG, avg. speed, etc.)
When I start guidance, I keep this setup. The difference, however, is the main screen (zoom level still at what I had it set at--800 feet) shows a line on the route I should be taking. (A depiction of the path to take.) In the right side, I still have the information about the car. When I am approaching a turn, the right side of the screen will be replaced with an arrow telling me where to turn, and the distance. The main screen, however, will not change; I still have my map set at 800 feet.
After I make the turn, and assuming there isn't another immediate turn, the right side of the screen once again shows the information about the car.
