I'll take a friendly approach to investigate, but I have to say, one sure feels trapped at this point. The thought of negotiating again is frustrating; maybe that's what they're hoping.

Dont budge an inch. They are just hoping you want the car so bad you will buckle. If it were me I wouldnt call them back for a week or two.
