No the 3.0d standard engine will be re-tuned so that it beats the 225/km threshold which is what is important for the original registration of the car. You can then of course have it tuned/chipped to your hearts content which will not change the band the car is in. Interesting that BMW are getting in on the tuning market, I suppose they have already done it to an extent with the Works version of the Mini Cooper S. Easy money for them I guess.
Personally I like the stock 20's better than the 21'2 239's, I think I have seen them on a 7 series and just like the fact the 20's are a modern update of the original E53 Y spoke
