I agree it does seem to be a bit much. But no one say's any of it needs to be read in one sitting.
IMHO it's Better to have and not need, than to need and not have. As vehicles advance (there's no going back folks) people will have to get up to speed to take advantage of whatever technology is on tap. The problem as i see it is how is the information presented? Is it explained in terms that people can understand or is it in technical jargon fit for engineers.
Either way those who understand it may have to explain it to the uninitiated. Yes Mr. Smith I can come by and explain your car for $$$.
