You must understand, those red light camera's are not operated by the state. They are operated by private companies who get a cut of every ticket they issue.
The camera's are generally not put into high accident areas, rather they are put at intersections that are most likely to generate income: Like on a downhill slope where cars have a harder time braking for a yellow light safely.

So just to be clear, these camera's do not make our roads safer, are operated by private companies for the sole purpose of generating income and in fact are unconstitutional.. It's just that most people don't fight it, so they continue to install them.
