Term only, imo.

Though if no Kidz or spouse, other than a lower "entry fee" point due
to your age, I'm not sure if any life ins. is a great move for you.
(No idea of your personal situ...)

I would rec'd disability insurance, if your employer offers it, and max it
if you can. If self-employed, I'd hit up dis. ins., privately also.

If you are still paying on that whole life, I'd cash it/can it...it's simply
a very low return "savings" plan you have there.
All, imo.

Edit: here's a couple links...pages of 'em on the net:
term vs. whole life: http://www.smartmoney.com/insurance/...story=lifeterm

And, a randomly picked LTD site, if you don't have one offered through your employer:
http://www.4-disability-insurance-quotes.com/

Do you own DD, but LTD is very important to have, imo.
