I found one OEM BMW changer which plays MP3s and has coax input for my Digital DSP (production date July 2005) but I'm afraid I have to update my Business Tape Radio as well (I got 2001 X5). Do you know anything about that?

Are you ever sure you are running Digital DSP? Most MY05 were analog, check this page to find out your configuration:

The BMW MP3 changers are over 3x the price of the DICE kit and offer a much smaller music library what what the iPod can handle.
