My X% 4.8 came with the running boards. I have no use for them. I step around them, get my trouser leg dirty from them (particularly in the winter with the slush). and can't seem to remember to stand on them when I use the Thule box. Otoh my mother likes them to get into the vehicle, although lowering the suspension helps her more.

I would not have paid to have the running boards.
