Very strange a 2005 3.0d with excessive smoke!I have friends with a 2005 X5 reprogrammed and no soot!!
The primarily object of this exhaust project is not power gains(in my case, this has already been achieved)but then we dont want to loose any power either!Which why I am going to do this in 2 OPTIONS.We have to bear in mind that we are fitting a silencer designed for a high powered normally aspirated V8 engine ,not for a Turbo car?My OPTION 1 will be the easier way, whereby I will straight weld(or connect) the 4.8 silencers to the 3.0D system,in OPTION 2 ,I will be modifying the internal tubing of the silencers for a more "straight through" design and this will obviously be the option I shall adapt in my car!Experience in similar projects(and having a look at the internals of the 4.8 silencer) tells me that OPTION 1 should be ok!
