I have a 4.4 e53 and the 4.8 seemed like a nice transition, but couldn't get myself to like the 3.0 engine much. I've driven both new engines on the SC track a few months back (both with sport pkg) and I thought the power difference was really significant, plus the deeper growl of the 4.8 was nicer.

Other differences include black grill on 3.0 and titanium on 4.8, graphite trim available on 3.0 only, and autoleveling on 4.8.
