Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Much more work in your system. You'll need the following items to be Sirius compatible:

16:9 Widescreen Navigation Monitor

MKIV Navigation Computer (DVD-ROM) Upgrade
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=942

BMW Navigation Radio Tuner Upgrade - AUX & Sirius compatible

Audio Cable for analog DSP-equipped vehicles - open 3 pin

And of course, the Sirius system (same kit will apply in the 7):

Sirius Satellite Radio - e39 5-series/M5

There's a lot needed for the upgrade, but you will be updating your system to 2003+ specs and have a overall better NAV system with faster processing speed, better graphics and of course....Sirius compatibility.
