That's because there are over 1.4 billion GSM users compared to CDMA with around 235 million. The GSM Treo is a quadband phone and can be used almost anywhere in the world. That means it can be marketed towards to almost every GSM user. The CDMA version is region specific and if Palm wants to sell them in any quantity, they have to do what the carriers want.
