I remember ABC News did a program a few months ago where they tried to follow up on the email, so they sent paperslips of money or something, then actually met with the guy "to make the exchange" in NY. In the end he admitted himself that he was a scammer, and wanted to come clean, etc.
Now one of the most 'dangerous' places to be in is an internet cafe in Lagos...
