An article like this back in 1989 would have been categorized in "conspiracy theory" territory. But wait 20 years, and then it falls under the "who cares" category. It will be nothing more than a footnote on the network news tonight.
But London-based ex-US intelligence officer Bob Ayers said he did not believe it would affect today's war on terror.
"After nearly 20 years, it may no longer be possible to find out who was behind the attack. But I don't think such a verdict would chill improving relations between Libya and Britain, or change the tempo or intensity of the war on terror for the US or al-Qaeda," he said.
Something tells me we will be reading a similar article in 20 years about the 9/11 attacks. The consensus will be "who cares, it happened 20 years ago. Who was behind the attack no longer matters or effects our policy decisions today."
