Think about all the activities done by people (of all ages) while driving: text messages, talking on the cell, watching TV, setting navigation system, playing play stations, looking for/at artist and song title info, etc. makes the roads more dangerous for everyone. It use to be that the only options you had were playing with the heat and selecting your 8 track.
All the new tech gives us many more distractions and I'm sure as more rides get pimped we'll see even more potential driving distrations show up along with the accidents, deaths and new laws passed about them. I'm not sure what, if anything can help. Maybe more public awareness is needed as a first step. Sorta like how MADD did many years ago. It hasn't stopped drunk driving, but seems to have made an impact.
Nothing really to add, just thinking about is there anything that can be done to minimize distractions because there is no stopping them. Regardless of what the real statistics are, I think most people would agree that there is a 'problem' of some sort.
