if the cameras won't be hooked directly into the network and have unique "live" ip addresses, then you have a couple of choices:

1) give the pc they are hooked to a live ip address and you can use remote desktop to access teh machine and check the cameras. You'll have to make sure you secure the network with a good firewall and keep the security tight so that no one hacks in.

2) give the host pc a live ip address and use ssh to secure shell into it to check the cameras.

3) if the camera software is web enabled again give the pc a live address and enable ssh and check the cameras via IE

4) get someone to embed the camera software into a web page and secure it using active directory or ldap security.

there are a lot of different ways to do this that vary subtley, but they all require access via a live IP address.
