It's not about Text Messaging vs. cell phone vs iDrive. Nor is it about young vs old. It's about doing something distracting while driving compounded by a lack of driving experience and a sense of invincibility. That applies to everyone, other than the invincibility part which is usually attributed to the younger people.

Seniors safer drivers than the young, study says
A U.S. study released Wednesday found that drivers 65 and older may be more likely to cause an accident than adult drivers, which includes those as young as 25 and up to 64. But they are not nearly as dangerous on the road as young drivers
The study by Rand Corporation, a Washington think-tank, found that older drivers, who represent 15 per cent of all licensed drivers, cause only 7 per cent of accidents. Meanwhile, drivers under the age of 25 and representing 13 per cent of all licensed drivers cause 43 per cent of accidents.
