Vegas, you are making some very general blanket statements based on the real world experience of just a few, small, rare and extreme cases.
But just for arguement sake, lets go back and read the article you quoted:

"As the party progresses, Leah drinks at least several alcoholic beverages, smokes some pot, and takes a pill of 'ecstasy'.....

Ok, point one. You can not blame this death on ecstasy any more than you can blame it on alcohol. It clearly says, she had SEVERAL drinks. Not one, not two, not three, but SEVERAL drinks. Then she smoked some pot. Anyone who has ever gone to college can tell you what happens to your mind and body after you drink SEVERAL drinks then smoke some pot. Yehaa.. -- Then to boot, she's drunk, she's stoned, "Hey, I have an idea, lets chase it with some MDMA!"

Don't need a crystal ball to figure out what happens next. Girl gets paranoid, then drinks TWO GALLONS of water in 1.5 hrs. (Think about what a gallon of milk looks like in grocery store!)
-- Girl dies from water-overdose... News media reports a national and worldwide epidemic of young girls dying from ecstasy.

Anybody with 1/2 a brain knows that people don't dehydrate from Ecstasy, they dehydrate from the activity's associated with ecstasy like: Sweating from dancing, being in hot rooms, walking, running and generally exerting energy of all forms.
((Not that I've ever taken any drugs but I have heard from friends who have... Dancing is a bi-product of taking ecstasty. It is the bodies desire to expel energy.. So people take E and they naturally feel the URGE to dance. Dancing equals sweat, sweat equals drink.
- The people who are unaware of this, have no business experimenting with anything, including alcohol (eat food before you drink.) or smoking (don't smoke if you want to be an athlete..)

I am sorry about your friend in H.S. - I know of many people in college who died of alcohol related deaths, but I'm not about to rip the glass of wine out of your hands because of it.

If your going to do drugs, take the time to educate yourself. Don't just give in to the "REEFER MADNESS" disinformation hysteria. And for crying out loud, surround yourself with people who have good sense and judgement.
