By Golly no they wouldn't have, because if you read the history of X5, in regards to how they came up with the idea, and how Range Rover was there big inspiration in regards on designing the X5. They didn't want to get the MX5 confused with Mazda's MX5. The engine on the 4.6 and the 4.8 is an "M" vehicle. Even with the 540i, there is versions that have the sport package and have the "M" logo on them. The "M" just stands for the sport package and all the extra things that come with it. On the 4.6 this is truly the "M" of the X5's only. This is not my opinion this is true facts and If you think other wise, well by golly look it up.
