yes, bmw uses "lifetime" fluid. meaning under normal circumstances the fluid will still lubricate the gears through a "lifetime" of ownership - whatever that means... if bmw can specifically state the circumstances then i'll listen...

there are no adverse affects of changing the fluids if you do it correctly...
