I loath having to deal with my service depertment. I feel they are tring to rip me off every chance they get.
Case in point: I went in due to having a brake light out. I was told that I neede a whole new light assembly and it would cost me $220. I bought a new recepticle for the bulb for about $6.00 and fixed it myself.
Antoher one: I had a crack in my windshield and took it to BMW to find out about getting it fixed thourgh my insurance co. Gieco. They quoted me 6.5 hours of labor to install a windshiled!!! What the F%$#??!! I directly asked my service rep if they installed it themselves. He addimately said yes and they would need it for two days. The total price quote was $1,450!!!
Gieco laughed when I told them that so I took it to a reputable auto glass company here in town. First off they tell me they do all the work for the BMW dealership!! Humm... my trustworthy service advisor lied to me?? Shock!! They then tell me it is only 2 hours and the price is $650. BMW wanted to charge me $800 extra just for the pleasure of taking my car for two days and having someone else do the work.
Oh, when I was at BMW I asked about the Comfort Glass windshiled. Jackass disapears for 20 minutes to confer with one of his techs and comes back to tell me that my X5 does not have the "wiring" for the Comfort Glass windshield. Wrong again Bozo!!!
I cringe when I think of having to deal with those idiots!! The parts guys on the other hand are wonderful. Well the one parts guy is cool as hell. Showed him the Hans Stuck vid last time I was there. The lady behind the parts counter is another story. No idea what crawled up her ass and died but it must have been big!
I must admit when I lived in NJ in 96, I went to Morristown BMW. I had a previously owned (sounds so much better than used, dopesn't it??) 95 M3. They were fantastic. Treated me very well and I did not think they were trying to rip me off......
I am going to go to the local indy shop here in Lauderdale next week. I have heard good things about them!!!
