HI this is jose from puerto rico;I'm not sure but mine did the same ,at the dealer told me that bmw cars did that as a safety feature (blow cold when low on freon by the driver to defrost the driver glass in case will needed) mine has to be replace the seals kit in the A/C compressor...hope this help
